Amélie de Kerchove co-founded AZ ARCHIZEST (formerly AZ Architecture) with her husband Wolfgang Zichy in 2000 in Brussels. In 2013, after a year travelling through South America with her husband and four children, she co-founded AZ's Lisbon office.

She studied in Brussels, where she graduated with distinction from the Victor Horta Architecture faculty at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

Before founding AZ ARCHIZEST, she honed her skills managing and designing architectural projects working with the Belgian architect Philippe Ladrière as well as designing urban furniture.

Her cross-disciplinary approach, at the junction of architecture and interior design, is central to AZ's holistic, key-in-hand ethos.

Amélie excels in sculpting elegant interiors through the thoughtful use of volumes, light and proportions. In her work Amélie selects materials, defines textures, "she reads the soul of a place" and gives it its own unique personality.

Wolfgang Zichy de Vásonkeö
Co-Founder

Wolfgang Zichy co-founded AZ ARCHIZEST (formerly AZ Architecture) in 2000 together with his wife Amélie de Kerchove. In 2013, after a year travelling through South America with his wife and four children, he co-founded AZ's Lisbon office.

He studied architecture at the Institut Saint Luc in Bruxelles.

After graduating, he honed his skills at AUSIA in Brussels, managing large scale projects, ensembles of several hundreds of homes in Belgium and France.

At AZ ARCHIZEST Wolfgang leads the workshop, coordinate projects, defines the basic intention, sketches and designs the spaces. He brings his extensive knowledge to the team, gained through very successful projects in Belgium, France and Portugal.

Wolfgang's philosophy is to craft balanced spaces, using volumes and articulating them together into a common scenography. He frames and harnesses the light, controlling its flow and managing how it permeates the location.
